The George Washingmachine Quartet

Known for his virtuosic high-energy violin playing and engaging stage presence, Australia’s second most famous cultural export George Washingmachine leads this quartet with characteristic eccentricity, charm and humour.

George Washingmachine (violin / vocals)
Dave Kelbie (guitar)
John Kelly (guitar)
Mark Elton (bass)

Feeling all strung out? Life in a spin? Well then, let the dreamy music of George Washingmachine wash away the dust of everyday life.

A master showman whether playing toe-tapping jazz, soulful blues, or uplifting melodies, when it comes to knuckle-busting feats on a violin, George doesn’t play second fiddle to anyone! From Sydney, George Washingmachine is a captivating old school entertainer - he’s a violinist who sings, a blues guitarist, and a visual artist. In his quartet are guitarists Dave Kelbie of Dime Notes and Django a la Creole fame, and John Kelly from the Fleeting Paradise Orchestra, and bassist fellow Australian Mark Elton, a regular with the Scott Hamilton band.

Fairport Convention

During that time the band that launched British folk-rock has seen many changes, but one thing has remained the same - Fairport’s passion for performance.

Fairport Convention have won a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and Radio 2 listeners voted their ground-breaking album Liege and Lief - the most influential Folk album of all time. Their story has been celebrated with television documentaries on BBC Four and Sky Arts.

The band features founding member Simon Nicol on guitar and vocals, Dave Pegg on bass guitar and vocals, Ric Sanders on violin, Chris Leslie on bouzouki, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, and vocals.

Intermediate Yoga

Led by Julie Potter

This class is suited to those who have been practising for at least 6. My intention for this class is to move our practise forward, explore different avenues and approaches to the traditional postures. We will be aiming to be going deeper into awareness and noticing.

The yoga I teach is an evolution of over 20 years of practice and study, perhaps moving away from external evaluation of the postures and moving towards an internal sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential approach. Whilst looking at traditional Hatha Yoga postures and pranayamas, I will be encouraging fun and freedom within the traditional structure, whilst taking into our awareness fundamental anatomical and functional aspects required by our bodies for maximum wellbeing benefits.

Please bring a blanket, a Yoga / Pilates mat, and wear loose comfortable clothing.
